Butt Fusion Machines

Overview

Butt Fusion Machines are used to thermally connect pipe, fittings, valves, and other appurtenances of like pipe. Butt fusion is most commonly used to connect polyethylene and polypropylene. Butt fusion is most commonly used to connect polyethylene and polypropylene. Machines are available to fuse from 3/4 in to 65 in (20 mm to 1600 mm).

Butt Fusion Machines are provided in range sizes. The most common ranges are:

  • 1in – 5in IPS (32 mm – 160 mm)
  • 2 in – 8 in IPS (75 mm – 250 mm)
  • 4 in – 14 in IPS (125 mm – 355 mm)
  • 6 in – 20 in IPS (200 mm – 500 mm)
  • 8 in – 24 in IPS (225 mm – 655 mm)
  • 14 in – 36 in IPS/DIPS

Fusion machines can be provided with a selection of mobility options. Smaller machines are typically provided with a static frame while larger machines are fitted to wheeled and track driven bases. These machines can be separated from the mobile bases to used used in the trench or other location where a more compact operation may be necessary.
