I was born in Bridgetown Barbados, where I attended Presentation College from 1970 – 1975. I graduated with my MBA in Finance at the University of Windsor, Canada in 1984.
During 1986-1995 I worked as a Sales Manager in my father’s company, traveling the Caribbean Islands selling and promoting building material products. I was paid a low salary, given a car, an airline ticket, and was asked to travel the islands in the first month of my employment. I knew little about building materials and had to learn how to swim in the industry.
In 1995 I resigned from the family business and started my own company,
DGL Building Materials Solutions, distributing building supplies in Barbados and the Caribbean. Today DGL is proud to be associated with AVEM Water, as its partner in the marketing and promotion of its water products throughout the Caribbean.
In 1990, I married my wife Jennifer Leacock and I also have a son Matthew and a daughter Daniella, who both live in Canada, attending university.
If I was not working in my business today, I would be playing in a band and having fun! I played the rhythm guitar in a band while at university and was on top of the world. Squash, walking, and swimming are what I love to do in my spare time. I also love golf but it does not love me… I cannot seem to score under 100.
